Journey of a Musician to Entreprenuer
At the age of 11 a small boy named srinivas who was inspired to enter into music field through the influence of his neighbour who used to tempt srinivas with his wonderful guitar skills. From then on he started learning guitar himself with the support of music books & listening to radio and experimented on it. on the other side he was very passionate to become a doctor for which he worked hard but the almighty strongly decided to make him a musician. He started playing guitar at College Fests and used to perform at night clubs to make his livelihood and also a rhythm guitarist in Navayuga Orchestra during which he was trained by Mr.Gupta, Lead Guitarist, Navayuga Orchestra. Later, Under the guidance of D. Veerabhadra Rao, Music Composer srinivas got a wonderful opportunity to showcase his talent in a show called sankranthi smabaraalu conducted by All India Radio, Visakhapatnam. Srinivas was graded by the All India Radio with B grade, He then started taking home tuitions for guitar & keyboard to spread his talent to all the vizagites during which he got the idea of having his own institute and successfully transformed it into a landmark for musical instruments in Visakhapatnam. Harmony is a well known musical instrument store in Visakhapatnam. Harmony was established on 20th January 1991 under the name of prasanna guitar coaching centre. It was then expanded to small musical instruments store named as SKML musicals in 1993 & started selling musical instruments of low range. From then the owner had many hardships in promoting the music and procuring the musical instruments by hand as no company directly supplied the instruments. Initially the guitars were sold in separate pieces so they were procured and assembled by the owner to make it playable. Finally, after facing all those hardships, In 2001, the real foundation of harmony took place near sampath vinayaka temple with great hard work which is instrumental in bringing the major international brands to city of destiny. It slowly evolved as the landmark of musical instruments in vizag. The store is currently located at the central business district of vizag which has huge customer base in form of schools, colleges, religious places like sampath vinayaka temple & union chapel church. T. Srinivasa rao, owner of Harmony is highly ambitious and instrumental for its growth over 26 years. He is one of the best guitarists who has own style of molding any song on guitar & A.I.R artist & has been playing guitar from 38years. He trained his students as successful musicians who are now working with legendary music director like A.R.Rehman. He laid foundation to his students in such a way that one of his students won grammy award for “JAI HO” as best sound engineer and the other won “Best guitarist of india” & many more. One of the prestigious achievement of Harmony is it is the 3rd music store in india to have a “Yamaha Guitar Wall” which features a wide range of Yamaha guitars on a single wall of 9feet wide & became “Yamaha Retail Partner” for Andhra Pradesh through which they are benefited by avoiding the middlemen & directly procuring the products from Yamaha Music India & benefited in form of margins & special retail partner schemes .
